Kate is our owner and head groomer! She took over as owner of K-9 Body Shop in October 2021, after purchasing it from the previous owners. She loves all animals (sometimes more than people), which is evident in the fact that she is the proud owner of "too many cats and dogs"! Kate is a proud board member of the Kalamazoo Animal Rescue, and she and her family have fostered over 160 animals over the last several years. She lives by the phrase "Let go and let God" and she loves working with dogs because "each dog is a puzzle...it's all about learning how to figure them out to make them comfortable and relaxed while they are with us!"
Ben has been our dog washer for two years now! He is incredible at what he does, taking the time to relax your dog before their grooming appointment. He is a proud alumnus of Parchment High School and has always liked dogs, making him a perfect candidate for us. He tends to keep to himself, but he's extremely hardworking, doing all of the work that's given to him without complaint. He has his own dog at home, named Jeff, and one of Ben's favorite things to do in his free time is to walk him! He is also an avid videogame player, and he loves to spend time with his friends.
Hannah is our newest arrival having been with us only a couple of months. She is a recent graduate of Plainwell High School where she completed a grooming education for employment class her senior year. Hannah started to take a vet tech course which provided some basic grooming instruction. She found she enjoyed grooming more then veterinarian work. Although she did not grow up with dogs, she found her calling with them! Hannah shows up with compassion, dedication, and a willingness to learn each and every day. While not at work, she enjoys hanging out with her two kitties Nessy and Ralph, hiking, and painting.
Where would we be without our first shop dog? She is 13 years old and a former foster from the Kalamazoo Animal Rescue. She is now retired from her status as shop dog and is enjoying the care and comfort befitting a senior dog. She still comes to the shop most days and can be found lounging in the back while her replacement Kevin is taking care of things up front.
Kevin is our shop dog in training. He is a 5 month old Belgian Tervuren Husky mix. He too is a former foster of Kalamazoo Animal Rescue. Kevin is currently taking puppy classes and is learning to be a good boy. When not at the shop greeting clients and getting belly rubs, he is at home running in the yard and barking at deer. His favorite past-times are chewing on bones and driving Kate nuts with his puppy antics.
