Kate is our owner and head groomer! She took over as owner of K-9 Body Shop in October 2021, after purchasing it from the previous owners. She loves all animals (sometimes more than people), which is evident in the fact that she is the proud owner of "too many cats and dogs"! Kate was a former board member of the Kalamazoo Animal Rescue, and she and her family have fostered over 170 cats and dogs over the last 15 years for them. She lives by the phrase "Let go and let God" and she loves working with dogs because "each dog is a puzzle...it's all about learning how to figure them out to make them comfortable and relaxed while they are with us!"
Kierah is our newest bather / student groomer. She has been an animal lover ever since she can remember! She currently has rabbits, dogs, and a hedge hog! When she is not loving on her pets, she is spending time with her family and friends. For over a year now, Kierah has been looking for the right place to teach her how to groom, and we are so grateful that she saw our hiring post! Here at K-9 Body Shop, we love teaching new groomers how to groom in a loving, compassionate, and Fear Free way! With Kierah's work ethics, dedication to doing a great job, and high level of detail, she is well on her way to being a top-notch groomer someday!
Hannah is our newest trainee turned groomer! Hannah successfully completed a grooming education for employment class during her junior and senior years and has been grooming at K-9 Body Shop for over a year now. Over the last year, Hannah has shown up each and every day with compassion, dedication, and a can-do attitude which really makes our jobs easier. Hannah loves on every single dog that comes in, whether or not she is their groomer that day. When she isn't grooming she enjoys hanging out with her two kitties Nessy and Ralph, hiking, and painting.
Where would we be without our first shop dog? She is 13 years old and a former foster from the Kalamazoo Animal Rescue. She is now retired from her status as shop dog and is enjoying the care and comfort befitting a senior dog. She still comes to the shop most days and can be found lounging in the back while her replacement Kevin is taking care of things up front.
Kevin is a one year old Belgian Tervuren Husky mix and a former foster of Kalamazoo Animal Rescue. He enjoys meeting everyone and every pup when they come through the door. When not at the shop greeting clients and getting belly rubs, Kevin is at home running in the yard and barking at deer. His favorite past-times are getting belly rubs, chewing on bones and driving Kate nuts with his puppy antics.
